Start Where You Are to Succeed

I’ve recently started watching WeCrashed. It is so GOOD and while Jared Leto is amazing, I cannot stop looking at Anne Hathaway. While I was flipping through my iPad and trying to find a movie to watch before I started writing, I saw a thumbnail for Ella Enchanted and a lightbulb turned on (figuratively).

Anne Hathaway is such a great actress because she’s been acting for yeeears. I mean, the movie Ella Enchanted was released in 2004 and that was not her first acting role. I googled it; you should Google it too.

If Anne can be in this WeCrashed and making me forget about her brilliance in The Devel Wears Prada because she *IS* Rebekah Paltrow Neumann, then what does that mean for me?

It means that I need to embrace the beginning. Enjoy the act of starting because everyone starts somewhere, even Anne Hathaway.

So I’m terrified to start a blog. Yeah, and so is everyone who writes for the seven million blogs that are published every day. But everyone else is not like me. Sure, they may be a mom, Black American, newlywed, and new parent blogger, but are they also a lawyer? Are they from Ohio?

And the biggest point: WHO CARES!

If I want to write a bog because the art of forming words into sentences and sharing those words on the internet makes me happy, then I will do it.

Fear can no longer dictate what I will and will not do because everyone has to begin somewhere.

And while I am beginning, Anne Hathaway will be my inspiration. If Anne Hathaway can start acting, then I can start writing. If Anne Hathaway can work on her craft every year, then I can work on my writing every week.

I’ll admit, the reaction that I had to the Ella Enchanted movie thumbnail caught me by surprise. I have never seen the movie. In fact, it wasn’t until I saw The Devil Wears Prada that I realized how amazing Anne Hathaway was and later became obsessed with her when I saw her other films, like Love & Other Drugs and Rachel Getting Married. Wow!

That lightbulb moment set off a series of other decisions that I am grateful for because I am a writer and I enjoy writing.

Period. The end.

I will spend my time doing the things that I want to do. I have started a blog and I will push forward, keep writing, keep improving, and work hard to attract others to my words. Whether you caught me in my early stage, once I have a few blockbusters, or when I am a featured writer, welcome.

Just like Anne, who is starring in Verity, which will be released in October 2026. Which character do you think she will be? And seriously, take some time and watch WeCrashed. The acting is superb.
