So, whenever you want to do something, you have to decide, I will do this, I won't do this. I will or I won't. Easy! Just one quick question. Keep reading to find out what book I'm talking about today.

Hey, it's Kyla Denanyoh, and today we are talking about how to have the will to do anything. So we're talking about the book Unf*ck Yourself by Gary John Bishop. And the genre of the book is nonfiction. The theme of the book is self-development, training, and encouragement.

Controversial title. It's going to grab your attention. It's going to make you be like, 'Wait, what are you talking about? What is the problem with myself?"

I picked up the book to record. I could only have it for 20 days because people wanted it. I had to turn it back in. It's a phenomenal book! Only a three-hour read on the audiobook. So I love that. I kept listening to it over and over and over again. The lessons are profound.

And so the most important lesson that I learned from Gary John Bishop is, will you do it? Period. The reason you're not disciplined is that you don't want to do it. I will not do that. I'm like, "Kyla, so you need to go record some book reviews so that you can put out your video review next week." Meh, I'm not going to do that. Well, that is too loose. The truth is that I'm saying I will not do that.

  • I will not record the video.

  • I will not read the book.

  • I will not set up my camera.

  • I will not turn it into my editor.

  • I will not take one step towards the next goal I want to achieve. Harsh, but true.

Will you or will you not do it? I will not cook food at home; I'd rather get a takeaway. Everything boils down to whether you will do it. I've been reading all these books, and recently all the reviews have been on nonfiction books because I've just been obsessed with just learning, and I've just been loving it, and it's time to record. The question is not, "will I go record seven book reviews to make a contribution to my future?" Or "Should I do it now that I'm a big YouTube star?" The question is much smaller; "Should I wash my hair today to have it look nice for this review?"

We think "so big, oh my God, I have to have amazing." We try to make everything so complicated. But everything starts with one question:

Will you do it?

Because once you get that ball rolling, will I wash my hair? Will I set up the camera? Will I bring down the book? And so it's so simple. If you want to be disciplined, you need to ask yourself, will I do it? And not in some like hocus pocus, woo woo way. Will I be punished? Will you do the thing you need to do? Will you set up your camera? Will you read the book? Will you record the book review? Will you send one more client email? Will you do it? And so I almost want to get the will to do it tattoo on my arm because it's such a simple lesson, and that was by far the biggest lesson I learned from the book.

You want to get literal and just start saying I will for everything. I will answer the door. I will go to bed. I will wash my hair. I will grab the water. I will get you some orange juice. Right, we've switched it to can. Can implies that you are capable. Yes, I can literally walk to the door. I'm capable of walking to the fridge. I can walk to the basement. Will you do it? That's a whole other thing. It's a tiny little gem. And it was so profound to me. So please read the book. Let me know if that's the lesson you took away from it. There's a ton of lessons in here, but will you do it? I can't even stop saying it.

Until the next book review, Kyla
