If you ask me, I would never need to read the book. What is failure? I don't fail. I don't need to read this book. If that's not your story, that's fine. But you know, if it is your story, keep reading to find out what book we're talking about today.

Hi, my name is Kyla Denanyoh. Today, we're discussing the book "Failing Forward." The author of the book is John C. Maxwell. The book's genre is nonfiction. The book's theme is motivation and inspiration. So, there were a ton of good gems in the book, but one of my favorite quotes is, 'Success is not an enemy, it's a process.'

I am a law school graduate who did not pass the bar exam. I'm a lawyer, but I never became a practicing attorney. And it took years, literally about three years, for me to come to terms with the fact that I was not going to be a practicing attorney, to tell myself, are you going to keep taking the bar? Are you going to move on to something else? It was a process. I didn't know that. I thought, 'OK, I failed.' Wiping my hands with it. Let's move on.

And that's why the quote is significant: failure is a process. No one had told me, oh, I failed. OK, what's next? That was my mindset. Oh, OK, this happened. What do I do now? What's the next step? Where do we go? Bing, bing, bing, bing, bing. You don't need to sit in it. You need to deal with it. You need to move on. You need to. I didn't want the process. I wanted to be upset for the moment and move on. And that was not the case.

So, last point here. Really important. Would I reread this book? Yes, I am a sucker for a nonfiction book. I love to reread a book at a different stage of my life and see how the anecdotes would jump out at me and be relevant to my life at the moment. So absolutely yes, I would reread this book. So, if you've dealt with failure, if you're having difficulty coping with it, or if you just want to know what failure is like, I've never failed, but one day I could… pick up this book and read it. It was excellent and it really taught me a lot.

Until the next book review, Kyla
