The Spanish Daughter book review

So imagine that your half-sister is coming over to meet the family. Still, someone in the family pays to kill the sister, but the sister doesn't die, so she shows up at the house dressed as a man. Then someone starts to fall for the man, and then what? Keep reading to find out what book I'm reviewing today.

Hey, y'all, it's Kyla Denanyoh, and today we are talking about family drama, attempted murder, cross-dressing, all the things. So today we're talking about the book, The Spanish Daughter. The author of the book is Lorena Hughes. The genre of the book is fiction. The theme of the book is suspense thriller.

So y'all, Puri is traveling with her husband to go and meet her half-sisters. She hasn't seen them in a long, long time. I think she hasn't seen her dad since childhood. So her dad had her in Spain, then moved somewhere else to Ecuador, and he has this whole chocolate factory and these cacao plants, right? So, Puri has always wanted to be with her father. She's always been jealous of the sisters. Oh, I wish I was there. I wish I was there. I wish I was there. Yes, these are spoilers. She's on her way to meet the sisters because the dad has passed away, and they need to read the will.

But everything goes crazy. The book literally starts with someone attacking Puri and her husband, and the husband ends up dying. So Puri decides to put on a fake mustache, her husband's clothes, and his glasses and pretend to be him. When she shows up, she finds out who tried to kill her right as she's dressed as her husband because they don't really know the husband. And it turns into this whole family drama.

The book is so good, and one of my favorite things about it is that Puri ends up falling in love. She appreciated her husband, and she definitely loved him, but she didn't want or desire him. So the fact that she later gets to realize, "Oh, I'm a lovable person, and people would think I'm attractive," and that part is pretty cool, but she doesn't end up being with her heart's desire because that's just not how life works.

So the book gets complicated because you have one person in the family who plotted to kill her, and then she shows up, and it's like, do we still love her? Do we not love her? Is there another sister? What the heck is going on?

And this: I'm reading the book, and the book should be predictable, right? You're reading it, like, oh my god, that's the killer. It turns out to be the killer, but there's more twist. And so you're just like, oh, of course, that person's in love with them, but that wasn't the person in love. There were enough twists to keep you on the edge of your seat, and enough turns to make you still interested without the plot going so crazy that you're just like what I read.

Y'all know when I love a book, I want it to be turned into a movie or a TV show. This would fit the bill. The Spanish Daughter is fascinating because they are all children of this man. Still, they have different mothers, so their love is different. You get to hear from the other two sisters Catalina and Helica Puri. Then there are some other people in the family, too, right? Of course, there's a dad. There are some other people, but it is a fascinating book and a delightful read. So, if you're looking for something cute, silly, romantic, and suspenseful, the Spanish Daughter is the book you want to pick up.

Until the next book review, Kyla
