The Big Leap book review

Why are you watching this? Because you want to create time. What the heck does that mean? Keep reading to see what book we're talking about today.

Hey, it's Kyla Denanyoh. Today, we are talking about the book The Big Leap. The author of the book is Gay Hendricks. The genre of the book is nonfiction. The theme of the book is successful people and success in business.

When people talk about your zone of genius, what they mean is that I like to record videos, and I also want to edit videos. I can edit them and do an okay job, but I couldn't edit all day. I don't get sucked into it, and then time just disappears. You know what I mean?

Now, podcasting is my zone of genius. I hear a phrase and say, "Oh, if I move this sentence here, it'll make the whole episode click time disappear." I forget to eat; I'm just locked in working. That's why I started a podcast editing business.

The zone of genius is not even the most important thing to me from this book. So the first big thing is I create time. Gay Hendricks talks about how we don't respect time. We always say things like, oh, I'm always late. Oh, I can't catch up. Stop. You create time. If you need to be somewhere, and it will take 45 minutes, why not leave an hour early? So then you don't have to rush, you can just get there when you get there. If you tell me a birthday party for a two-year-old starts at 8 p.m., we are there at 7:50.

I've always been that person. Well, not always. I became that person about 10 years ago when I would be so stressed rushing into work, always running to the time clock within 90 seconds. Oh my god, so much stress, so much drama. Is she gonna make it? Why?

Something clicked, and I'm sure it was a book I was reading at the time. I was just like, if you leave early if you're just sitting in the parking lot for five or ten minutes, who is it going to hurt?

You're trying to maximize so much of your life that you're running out to work at the last second, stop. S.T.O.P. Stop. You create time. But the idea of creating time opened up the world because, as a business owner, when will I get there? What's the next step? Am I making leaps and bounds?

Well, I create time. If I work today, it'll set me up for tomorrow. The work I do tomorrow will set me up for next month. Put in the effort, write the email, rewrite it, edit the video, edit it again, and do everything you need to do because you are investing in your future. Because I create time. I create time. And you, of course, can create time.

Until the next book review, Kyla
