Planta App review

I've kept 12 plants alive for the last two years without even giving them a thought. It's so simple. Keep reading, and I'm going to tell you all about my favorite thing.

I'm Kyla Denanyoh, and I'm going to tell you all about my favorite thing: an app on my phone. Let me provide you with some details. Two years ago, my father passed away. And while this was devastating and really heartbreaking, we came to the funeral. We were going to throw away all these plants. And I was like, well, I'll take them. Like, some of them looked really cute. At worst, I could just toss them.

Well, I haven't thrown them away. These are my top three reasons why I absolutely love the Planta app. First, I had to pay for the app. Is that a perk? For me, it is, okay. I don't want to say I don't respect free things, but I will say I definitely would have stopped using the app if I hadn't paid for it ($35.99 per year). The fact that I pay for it makes me more aware when it sends me notifications and alerts. It makes me think about it every year when Apple says, 'Hey, you're going to keep the app; what's going on?' I'm going to keep the app, thank you.

I've kept these plants alive. I have a heart leaf plant and another one that I've nicknamed Red. So I got these plants home, and I'm thinking, ' All right, now what are we going to do? ' I Google a couple things. I don't know what the plants are. And so I'm Googling, you know, to find out how to report a plant, and they make suggestions. And one of the suggestions was the Planta app. Don't know what plants you have? Take a picture of it. Well, thank you. You can scan your plant; it'll tell you, 'Oh, I think it's this,' or it could be a different variation based on colors. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Point number two is that I don't know anything about plants, but I know how to follow directions. You sent me a notification; this one needs to be missed. Okay, here we go. You know, my daughter even likes to mist the plants. She'll come downstairs, we're having breakfast or whatever, and then I'm like, oh look, it's time to mist the plants. And then she loves to do it. It's a family event. Planta is for the family.

There are three different levels when you sign up with Planta. You can tell them you're a beginner, a moderate, or an expert. Then, you can let them know what kind of notifications you prefer. Minimal, moderate, or frequent. I think I signed up as a beginner moderate. So beginner means that it'll tell me everything to do. When to water it, it tells me to feed it, it tells me when to mist it, and it lets me know when to wipe the leaves for specific plants.

I have a ZZ plant that was gifted to me when we moved into our house. It'll tell me to wipe down the leaves. And I actually do it for this one because it's so beautiful. It has completely changed. I've repotted it. It's in a slightly different pot. However, I think it really likes this pot because of all the new growth.

FYI: Yes, yes, I do have pictures of my plants saved on my phone. But before you start saying, oh my God, what a weirdo with these pictures in her phone. I'm not a weirdo with images of plants on my phone. I'm a weirdo with pictures of my plant on the Planta app because the app actually prompts you to take a photo every month, allowing you to track progress.

Is there a better endorsement than simply seeing the app work? Hello, it works. Yes, it's my absolute favorite app. My husband is always like, oh my goodness, you and these plants, because certain days, you know, they'll line up, and I'm like watering all 12 of them on one day. But even when he has the attitude, I'll just remind him, like, every time I look at the plants, I think about my dad. The fact that my daughter enjoys misting the plants is a part of our family now. So the plants are just here to stay. He's got to get over it. Especially now that we have the space.

Until the next review, Kyla
