Rich AF Book Review

I feel like money should make sense, but it kind of doesn't.  I feel like I need to have a lot of money, but I have to trade in so much time to earn it, and then it's too much. But if I'm going to be rich, I gotta figure out what to do with it. Keep reading to find out what book I'm reviewing today.

Hey, y'all, it's Kyla Denanyoh, and today we're talking about how to get rich, how to take care of money, what's the point of money, all of it. So, I'm talking about the book Rich AF. The author of this book is Vivian Tu. The genre of the book is nonfiction. The theme of the book is finances and self-discipline.

So Vivian is really, really smart. One of the things I absolutely love about the book is how many times Vivian says they learned it, taught it, figured it out, understood it, and asked questions. Okay, and why does that matter? She mentions in this book the things that rich people do right. And then she says, yeah, but where'd they get it from? She started asking rich people or people that we consider wealthy or to have, you know, financially independent and all this stuff. Where'd you get that? What was the thing? What was the thing? How did you do this? She was studying them. They asked questions, they wrote notes, and they paid attention.

You're not born understanding money. Now, you could be a number and math genius, like those kids that can just add up things in their mind, and they're like, how does your brain do that? That could be you. That doesn't mean you understand how to budget. You probably had to ask someone some questions. Or your parents taught it to you when you were little, and you said, okay, I figured it out. Or you've always been observant.

Kyla, you do not have to be mad at yourself to be your big age and not understand money. You don't. You either obtained the information but never kept it, or you read about it but didn't internalize it. So, I've never had an issue with money because I always knew I could get a job. I don't care if it's working at Target, which I've done. I don't care if I work at a law firm during the day or at Target at night to pay for the things I want because I always know I can trade in my time for money.

So there's that, but Vivian doesn't want you to do things that way. What would a rich person do? I'm reading the book and asking myself, okay, I got hit with a late fee because I paid my credit card payment early, but it was before the statement closed. A rich person will call, and then you call, and you're like, can you remove this? They're like, oh, of course, we'll remove it. In fact, we'll always give you a grace period because you've never been late before. Oh, okay, thank you!

The book has a lot of good lessons. It has good lessons about the type of insurance you need, how to start investing, how to create a budget, and what the whole point of saving is. She also made some really good points about being financially independent. I kind of always scoffed at it, like all these people who say they're financially independent are now selling courses to teach you how to be financially independent, or they're doing this or that.

One of my favorite things I learned was that she talks about what a rich person would do. A rich person would do this. And I began to think, what would a rich person do? A rich person would call and confirm. A rich person would just make sure. A rich person would ask a question. A rich person will not allow you to underpay them. A rich person is not going to let you waste their time.

And you read the book How to Be Rich AF and start thinking about how to be rich AF. It's magic, absolute magic.  I loved it. I love that she changed my mindset as I read the book. I will keep rereading it because I want to remember what it feels like to be what a rich person would do, what a rich person would do, and what a rich person would do. I wanna remember that feeling. I do, I do, I do, I do. I've even signed up for her newsletter because Vivian is the truth.

And I hadn't heard of her, you know? People, just because they're on TV and doing interviews and doing all this stuff and they're on podcasts, I could miss it if it's not a circle I'm involved in. And I had missed it. And so I'm glad I found Vivian because of her book, the power of books, right?

Until the next book review, Kyla
